" Hi there!
Thank you for visiting my corner of the Internet! I’m Zoey, a Malaysian composer currently based in Chicago, IL. I’m a classically-trained musician who finds joy in writing and experiencing film/TV/game scores ever since I realized “screen scoring” is a thing.
Here are some examples of my media music and concert music – enjoy! You can also check out my composer bio, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have project(s), collaborations in mind, or just to say hi!

Composer Bio
Zoey Lim (she/her) is a Malaysian composer based in Chicago, IL. Her music blends lush orchestral textures with electronic elements that unfold with each story.
She began her musical life at the age of six, playing piano and occasionally turning in composition sketches instead of her theory homework. Since then, she has earned an MFA in Music Composition for the Screen from Columbia College Chicago, and a Bachelor’s in Music Composition from West Virginia University, with a minor in Music Technology (for when things inevitably break).
Zoey has interned with acclaimed recording engineers, including Mat Prock at Area44Music and Grammy-nominated engineer Mark Benincosa II. Most recently, she assisted award-winning composer Joy Ngiaw on her upcoming romantic comedy Solo Mio (2026). She has also collaborated with several independent filmmakers, with projects currently in submission to major film festivals.
When she’s not scoring, Zoey can be found watching overly long TV shows, exploring ambitious recipes, or plotting which national parks to visit next—all ways of gathering stories to inspire her next musical journey.
